Ad Duwayhi Gold Project – Maaden Gold

Description

Located approximately 450km south west of Riyadh, Ad Duwayhi Gold Project occupies nearly 1km2 and comprises an open pit gold mine and milling operations to produce a metal product on site that is then transported to Jeddah. This new mine is Maaden Gold’s largest; at full capacity, Ad Duwayhi is expected to produce 180,000 ounces of gold annually. The site comprises three main areas: an explosive magazine, a combined process plant and a residential area, all of which are enclosed by a common boundary fence of 18km. Our Security Team improved the engineering design on all three sites for CCTV systems and access control systems, as well as a perimeter protection system comprising a fiber optics fence sensor and microwaves. The system utilizes the world’s most advanced explosive detectors and more than 200 fixed and mobile cameras, as well as 150 access points, turnstiles and crash barriers. Special design measures were incorporated for the overhead conveyors passing over the fence to ensure that the required level of intrusion detection and surveillance is maintained at all times. Given its proven track record and engineering competency in dealing with such complex projects, SAS was contracted by Hanwha Engineering and Construction Company; a leading Korean company, to design and engineer state-of-the-art integrated security systems at the site.
